PM Sports holds tennis clinic

Peter Mensah Sports Foundation (PM Sports), a non-governmental organisation, last Saturday put together a tennis clinic for juvenile tennis stars at the Ghana Tennis Club in Adabraka.

The event, which was meant to boost the performance of young and upcoming players within the Osu and Adabraka communities attracted over 60 children aged eight to 14 years.

The one-day event saw the participants taken through a variety of drills to improve specific aspects of their game, including serving, return of serve, baseline rallying, approaching the net, aggressive base liner and counter puncher.
In his closing remarks, Mr Peter Mensah, a UK-based tennis coach and CEO of PMSports said his outfit intended to make the event an annual affair hoping to introduce the children to the modern ways of the game.

“For some time now, Ghana’s tennis has taken a downward trend so the only way we can find a lasting solution is through these development pathways where players are given the opportunity to experience the best technical, physical and complete tennis training”.

“The Ghana Tennis Federation cannot do it alone so it’s a good thing that my team and I have come on board to help find an immediate solution to this downward trend. Returning to my motherland, Ghana to give back to the society has always been a dream so we will work hard to achieve the best results", he added.

Mr Mensah, who is on holidays in Ghana, was joined by International Tennis Federation (ITF) Level 2 Coach, Yahaya Maccauley, George Abban and Andrew Taylor as resource persons for the clinic.
